Dysport left me with bulges under eyes, how to correct?

It is likely that it was the Restylane, and no the Dysport, that left the bump under your eyes. The enzyme will break down the hyaluronic acid present in the Restylane but will not affect the Dysport. It is possible that you may need a bit more hyaluronidase injected if you still have the bump. Another possibility is that it is a hematoma from the injection, which typically resolves in 2-3 weeks but can take more than a month to fully go away. If it has already been 7 months, it is likely that the product is still there. Most Restylane products will dissolve after 1 year, but some take up to 18 months to dissolve fully.

However, if it has been seven months, the Dysport has likely worn off and the Restylane is still causing the issue. ​These fillers are good for improving under the eyes, but keep in mind, a combination approach will give the most improvement. Fillers, lasers,(plasma pen,) and microneedling/PRP can improve under the eyes. My patients try to get non surgical treatments to avoid surgery. We use PRP and stem cells there often. The bulging is probably from the HA filler Restylane. HA fillers can draw water and give your eyes a baggy look. The trick is to use a thinner filler like Belotaro or Restylane Refyne and put a quarter of a syringe in each tear trough, then bring the patient back in 10 days and finish the procedure off. I am sorry to read of your troubles.Dysport is used to treat wrinkles around the eyes (crow's feet), between the eyebrows and on the forehead.Restylane is a filler that fills in areas where volume has been lost as well as to fill in deep wrinkles.  The bumps under the eyes are from the Restylane filler.  Proper treatment using hyaluronidase enzyme to break down the filler was performed on you.  It will help resolve the bumps.  Remember, Restylane only lasts around 9 months.  Until it resolves perform mild massaging to the bumpy area daily.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you had after treatment.  The problems that you mentioned are likely the result of the Restylane versus the Dysport.  The Dysport effects should have worn off for the most part by 7 months.  Hyaluronidase can be injected to dissolve the filler, or you can wait for it to naturally break down.  Restylane in this area typically lasts up to one year.

This can happen as the orbicularis occuli muscle loses its ability to pump fluid away from the eyes. Dysport usually lasts 3-6 months, it is unusual to still have a muscle paralysed after 7 months. Next time only get your upper crows feet injected to help avoid this.

Thank you for your question regarding Restylane and dysport.  It sounds like Restylane may by contributing to the "bumps" under your eyes.  Dysport typically will cause bumps for 15-30 minutes after injection and then they go down.  Filler on the other hand can cause bumps that hang around for longer periods of time.  Hyaluronidase is used to dissolve fillers like Restylane.  Typically this is due to improper placement rather than wrong product.  As people have mentioned before, after 9 months the Dysport would be out of your system and lost its effectiveness.
If you do not get the response you are looking for, I would consult with another Board Certified provider in your area.  Hope this helps.

Most likely this is related to Restylane because after 9 months, the Dysport has worn off. If you are not improving with hyaluronidase, you should consider seeking another opinion. Restylane should easily dissolve with this. I would be using cannulas for around the eyes so you don't have bruising. I always use Hylenex for my choice of hyaluronidase because it has minimal risk of allergies and is potent/stronger than the compounded form.

Hi.  I think it’s more likely that it was the Restylane, not the Dysport, that caused the bumps.  Hyaluronidase (the enzyme) should correct the problem if enough is used.  In the meantime, apply warm compresses to the area and massage very gently.
