Hello, and thank you for your question. Regardless of the treatment site, we always advise our patients that it can take up to 2 weeks to achieve the full results of Dysport. We also inform them to follow up with their provider no sooner than 2 weeks. Furthermore, swelling is a common side effect but only temporary. If you are still unsatisfied with your results after 2 weeks and have concerns, you may return to your doctor or provider for further advice and care. I highly recommend only seeking treatments from a reputable, experienced injector. These specialists will know the best product to use for addressing your concerns, how much to use, and where to place injections to achieve the most natural-looking results.
Hello. Yes, this is related to your injections at the masseter. It could be swelling or perhaps a small hematoma. I suggest a follow up with your injector soon. Best, Dr. ALDO
Hello!Botox and Dysport (a.k.a. neuromodulators) treatments are a very popular procedure here at Solomon Facial Plastic in Toronto. At SFP, we offer various different options for neuromodulators, such as Botox, Nuceiva, and Dysport. Your situation sounds like two possible options happened; 1. Dysport has started to work but is not fully in effect yet and perhaps only part of the muscle is weakened and the other part has not kicked in yet. I would wait a full 14 days before assessing the final result. 2. It is possible that the entire masseter muscle was not treated, which means you may need to go back and have more Dysport injected, subject to your injector's discretion.
It is possible to develop swelling after any injection, including Dysport to the masseters. I would say that most people do not develop noticeable swelling after treatment to that area though. An examination of you would be helpful to try and determine what is causing the lump you see when you are chewing. I would recommend contacting the physician who treated you so that you can be evaluated in person.
The problem you are experiencing is that the entire masseter hasn't been relaxed. There is a deep and superficial portion of the muscle. There is a tendon that prevents spread of the Dysport more superficially during a deep injection. The superficial portion of the masseter needs to be treated to improve this problem. See attached paper for the detailed explaination.
There can be some unevenness noted after injections as the product begins to affect the muscle movements. Finals results from treatment are seen after 14 days. If you still have concerns after that time, return to your injector for an evaluation.
When the product is taking effect sometimes part of the muscle takes before the rest of the muscle. This can cause an unusual bulge in the muscle when it is contracting. This should subside after 10 days. If it doesn’t, you will require a top up.Warm Regards,Dr Glenn Murray, Absolute Cosmetic Medicine
Hello. Thank you for your question. It could be that the entire masseter muscle was not treated. You may need to have your injector inject into multiple parts of the muscle.
