Can I change my nose tip without completely losing my nose hump? (Photos)

You can absolutely leave some of the bump on your bridge while nicely transforming the tip to make a nicer looking, but completely masculine appearing nose. It is important to see a few rhinoplasty experts that do a lot of rhinoplasty on males and find one that you are comfortable with that can achieve your goals. But your goals are perfectly reasonable.

Yours is a goal that's totally reasonable and respectably, no need to justify yourself, indeed it is an atypical petition but you have full right to be non standard and the state-of-the-art of rhinoplasty can make it possible; just a tip-alae structure rhinoplasty work, even feasible under local anesthesia and sedation.

You can absolutely do a surgery to only address the tip. The reason you don't see that out there is that most patients DO want the hump addressed but it doesn't mean that you have to. You just need to be clear about your goals with your surgeon. I've done this for people myself.

This is an excellent question, and one I hear often—especially from patients considering ethnic rhinoplasty who want to preserve the heritage and unique features that make them who they are. Rhinoplasty should always be personalized to your goals. Unlike facelifts or eyelid lifts, where the objectives are often similar, rhinoplasty is never one-size-fits-all. You can refine, deproject, or slightly rotate the nasal tip without altering the dorsal hump if that’s your preference. I recommend consulting a facial plastic surgeon who offers photo simulation, as it’s an invaluable tool to help you visualize potential changes and decide what feels right for you.

Based on your photos, you appear to have relatively thin nasal skin, with a large dorsal hump, and an overprojected, bulbous, and droopy nasal tip appearance. I do not think that it would be wise to preserve your dorsal hump, since it would look out of proportion after rhinoplasty to the lower 1/3 of your nose. We have many women who do not wish to have a curve on profile, and would prefer to have a straight nasal profile appearance, even retaining a small dorsal hump. You get to dictate the parameter of your rhinoplasty. The goal would be to narrow and elevate the tip, bring the tip back closer to your face so it doesn't project as far forward, and then lower the bridge, but lower the bridge to a contour that you approve. The amount that a bridge is lowered is absolutely under control during an operation.

Yours is a perfect example situation of why I think that excellent morphs of a nose, showing the goal of an operation, are crucial. You can't have a surgeon just say, "I understand; I'll give you what you're looking for." He has to prove that he understands by showing you. Then, you get the chance to say, "Oh, take it down more than *that*", or "No, you're still taking it down too much", etc. We fine-tune the morphs so the operation can be as accurate as possible.

Finally, remember that rhinoplasty is an exquisitely difficult operation to get right, and you should only have surgery if you are able to make yourself very confident in your surgeon's skills. The changes that your nose needs require advanced techniques, and skill that most plastic surgeons don't possess with expertise. It's much much better to not have surgery than to have inexpertly-performed surgery.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, you are a great candidate for rhinoplasty. Maneuvers for your surgery would include dorsal hump reduction, tip refinement, nasal tip deprojection, tip elevation, among other maneuvers. Some of your hump could be kept if you would like. Yes, you can change the tip of your nose. You also change the lip columella angle and refine the tip. The dorsum will be left alone, if you desire.

Your nose has a large hump which needs significant reduction. I know many patients are worried that their nose will end up too small. In the right hands I don’t think that would be a problem

It is absolutely possible to refine or reshape the nasal tip while maintaining some of the natural dorsal profile. Many patients want to preserve some of the bony or dorsal height they are used to, while addressing tip concerns such as drooping, overprojection, or asymmetry. Rhinoplasty allows these areas to be treated independently, so the tip can be sculpted without completely altering the bridge.
