My surgeon misinformed me. I’m 4 months post-op and the scar on my left alar is truly alarming. The scar is raised near the nostril that didn’t happen on the right side. I’ve been using New Gel E+ for 3.5 months. I’m regretting my surgeon a lot because he didn’t tell me about the scars, and he didn’t tell me he was doing the incisions on the outside. He led me to believe it was going to be an easy healing process. I’m not going back there.

There are scar treatments that are available (laser, noninasive methods) that dermatologists may use and in general scars take up to at least a year to decrease

Hi,You may benefit from a series of treatments with a CO2 laser to smooth out the scars. RF (radio-frequency) devices may be another option. Otherwise, staying out of the sun and continuing to use your scar gel will be helpful. Best,

Hello, and thanks for your question. At this point, I would advise patience. You are very early in the healing process. Continue with your sun protection and scar management routine as you are doing. With time those scars should improve. Wait until about a year post op before deciding to intervene.
