Smart lipo after hernia repair, is it safe? (photos)

I have had 2 c sections and a hernia repair shortly after...all surgeries are 5 years old. My hernia repair made an ugly frowned face scar above my navel. Is it safe or even possible to get smart lipo done?

Thank you for your picture.  It is possible to have SmartLipo® after a well healed hernia repair.  In your case I would not recommend SmartLipo® because you will have an unfavorable result due to your excess skin.

You can certainly have smart lipo after a hernia repair, but your photo clearly shows excess sagging skin and stretch marks which should not be treated by smart lipo. Rather, you need a tummy tuck to remove the excess skin and tighten the skin and the abdominal wall.

Thanks for your post. I do think it would safe to consider Smartlipo for this area, provided the hernia remains nicely corrected. You might be a better candidate for a true tummy tuck, but Smartlipo may help your contour a bit. I would visit w/ a local PS. Best wishes.

Though it is possible to have liposuction (SmartLipo) after her is repair, looking at your photos, you may be a better candidate for a tummy tuck. It appears as if you ah e a lot of stretch marks on your abdomen, which predisposes you to having looser skin after liposuction. Seek an exam with a board-certified plastic surgeon to best guide you. If your hernia was repaired a while back it probably is ok, but an exam is essential to make sure you do not have a recurrence.

it is safe to do Smartlipo after a hernia repair. Of course, your surgeon needs to examine you first to make sure that it is in fact OK to do so. This is another reason why you want to go to a PS and not someone elseto examine you. Looking at your picture, you do seem heavier than the ideal 15% above your ideal body weight for Smartlipo. Again, your PS can asses your for this. david berman md

Unfortunately, the only way to improve the appearance of the skin on your abdomen would be a full tummy tuck. Liposuction alone in a patients like yourself sometimes makes the skin look worse. In clothes you will still have a nice result once you are healing but a full tummy tuck would give you the best result out of clothes once you are done having children. Best wishes. Dean Vistnes.
