Rock Hard Swelling After Rhinoplasty?

I had a rhinoplasty done 11 days ago. I had a hump removed and my tip corrected (droopy tip) the first couple days after my cast came off, the swelling was soft and numb when i felt it. However I woke up 2 days ago with my nose being super stiff. When I felt the tip and columella, the swelling was now ROCK hard. Should I be concerned? In the days that my swelling was soft, my tip came down a lot and my nose started looking a lot better. But since the swelling became hard, nothing has changed.

The hard swelling can be from the collection of edema fluid after the splint has been removed. The splint keeps the swelling in control by pressure. Once the pressure from outside on the nose is removed, the fluid (swelling) can increase over a few days. It then takes about 3 weeks to go away. As long as there is no fever, discharge, redness or pain, then it should settle. RegardsDr. J

It is not unusual to for your nasal tip to feel hard for weeks after surgery.  It takes weeks to months for all the swelling to subside.  Others will not notice swelling, but you will feel it.  Follow up with your Plastic Surgeon for a nice recovery.  Best wishes!
