I had Morpheus8 a week ago in PA. I asked the doctor to do only the neck/jawline,but she also did without my consent the mid-face. I wanted to lose fat on my neck/jawline only, not on the cheeks. She said she used a different set for the mid-face, for skin tightening only. Should I be concerned with volume loss? Does Morpheus 8 cause fat loss like Thermage or Ultherapy on the cheeks. The depth of penetration for 4mm is below the skin and this is where the fat layer in the face lives.
Answer: Morpheus8 Melting Fat in the Face Thank you for your question. The short answer is yes, Morpheus8 will melt fat in the cheeks. Your provider is also correct in that the settings can be adjusted so the pins do not penetrate to the deeper layers. We typically perform Morpheus8 of the full face and are able to make adjustments to the depth and use pulse stacking techniques where indicated for best results. This said, your provider should only be doing the procedure that you are consenting to have performed. Communication seemed to have fallen short in your case. For future treatments I would make sure you and your provider are on the same page with your goals and what you are consenting to have performed. Best of luck.

Answer: Morpheus 8 Hello Rodrigolaport, Morpheus8 is capable of fat melt at a 4mm depth. In our practice, we reserve that depth only for pronounced jowls and submental (double chin) fat. The other areas of the face are treated at a more superficial depth. It sounds like your physician accounted for that and changed the setting. The great thing about Morpheus8 is the ability to control the depth and temperatures that we are using so we can avoid volume loss in areas we want to preserve it and just tighten and firm the tissue. Other skin tightening treatments do not have that capability and can lead to volume loss all over. It sounds like you went to a trained professional who knew what they were doing! Hope this is helpful! Jeanine Oteri, LME, CLT answering on behalf of Dr. Anna Petropoulos, MD, FRCS

Answer: Depth settings can be changed to avoid fat loss in certain areas of the face. Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Morpheus and fat The Morpheus 8 is able to destroy fat as well as tighten and encourage collagen production. As you correctly stated, it is the ability to go to a 4mm depth that allows Morpheus to access the fat layer as well. The Morpheus has multiple depth and energy settings which allow for practitioner control on whether or not the fat layer is treated. Usual face depth setting is 4mm so that would access the fat area. Typical periorbital or forehead settings use a much shallower depth of 2mm. Whether or not you get volume loss would depend on what setting your practitioner used. I would be concerned about returning to a facility where parts of your body are treated without your consent, however. Good luck!

Answer: Does Morpheus8 melt fat....? Morpheus8 is Radiofrequency which can melt fat. However, your surgeon is right in that there are different settings for the depth of penetration. This machine is very different from Thermage or Ultherapy in that they are external machines and the energy is directed downwards into the skin and will penetrate the skin and below without much control of how deep it penetrates. Morpheus uses tiny needles that can be controlled as to how deep they penetrate. Plus, the energy isn't directed downward, it travels from the needle to needle and to the grounding plate on the surface of the skin where the handpiece contacts the skin. If done properly, it can help melt a tiny bit of fat under the skin if set properly to do so, or Not melt fat if that is the desire. DiscoverTheBeauty.com
