Would liposuction or Kybella be suitable for my chin/ jawline? (photo)

Would lipo or Kybella work for my chin or jawline? I recently noticed how weak my jawline is and I have a pretty big double chin for a thinner person . What procedure would work best for me?

"​It takes a series of treatments to get good results with Kybella. Keep in mind, Kybella is good for dissolving the submental fat under the chin area while contouring the jawline and making the chin more defined, but a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options. I recommend a combination approach with Thermage, Ultherapy, and Exilis.

Liposuction allows for improved definition of both the chin and jawline. Kybella will not give the same results. Most surgeons prefer the liposuction procedure.

Thank you for your question. Based on your concerns, likely a combination of filler and lipo or Kybella would be best. The filler would be used to enhance the contour of your jaw, while lipo or kybella would be used to reduce the size of the fat pad below the chin. I hope that helps!

Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office. I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable. It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.

Thank you for your question! You could do kybella for the area but if you have any sort of skin laxity kybella will not help with that. Kybella can take multiple vials and treatments too. CoolSculpting can treat any excess fat tissue as well as help with skin laxity and tighten that area at the same time. There is typically less downtime associated with CoolSculpting too. Kybella you can have pretty decent swelling and bruising while CoolSculpting tends to have pretty minimal swelling or downtime. If it were me I would likely go the CoolSculpting route. Without seeing any photos of you looking straight ahead, it is hard to assess your jawline any further in terms of filler. Hope this helps!

You have two options. Slow one: Using KyBella to under chin in a few sessions over 6-8 weeks. Then in last session add jaw line filler like Y-Lift Chyn techniques. Fees $8,000. Fast option: Under chin lipo with jaw line fillers at same session. 1 week healing. Fee same.

We typically make assessments based on standard pictures looking straight forward without facial expression showing the side and front. Basically mugshots.

Look at how plastic surgeons take before and after pictures if you want to know how to present pictures to us.

Young people who are not overweight and complain of having a double chin and lack of jawline definition universally have an underdeveloped mandible in relationship to their maxilla.

Even though your picture is less than ideal it does show your mandible is also small and underdeveloped compared to your maxilla. Most likely you have a dental overbite.

Often this presents on the sideways view with an upper lip that has more projection than the lower lip.

Liposuction is the treatment of choice for removing subcutaneous fat and most plastic surgeons do not use Kybella. Kybella is typically used by those who do not have the ability to do Liposuction. These are typically going to be doctors were not trained in surgery or nurses working in med spas.

In order to be a good candidate or to have a substantial impact from Liposuction or any type of fat removal procedure there has to be fat  to remove.  You look pretty slim and I don’t think you have much fat to remove. Remember that the primary problem is based on bone structure not fat distribution.

Hello, and thanks for your question. There are pros and cons to each option. I would personally recommend starting off with the cheaper option, Kybella, since you do not have much fat to remove. You can get multiple rounds of this over time and decide how far you want to go, rather than undergoing surgery. However, with surgery, it will be a one and done thing. Of course, surgery is more expensive. Please see a board-certified surgeon for best results. Best of luck to you!
