30 year old, 122 lbs, 5'3, 2 kids I had traditional liposuction to the flanks 8 weeks ago performed by a Board Certified PS. I've been adamantly following post op protocol. I still wear my compression garment 24/7. Per my surgeon I can switch to night time as of today. I am concerned about my result thus far-- the lumpiness and obvious area where the lipo was done. Is this my permanent result? How much change can I expect from here? I have a follow up appt scheduled in a month.
Answer: Time to result with liposuction 8 weeks is certainly too early to judge liposuction results, regardless of technique used. Studies have shown resolution of swelling may take up to 6 months or even longer in some cases. Be patient, follow instructions, and discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.

Answer: Liposuction (8 weeks Post Surgery) Hello and thank you for your question."You've never had enough liposuction until you've had too much." The size of the cannula can influence the smoothness of the skin. The use of large cannulas tend to create irregularities more commonly than microcannulas. Excessive liposuction is the removal of an excessive amount of liposuction from an area. Removing too much fat can leave an unnatural and unattractive appearance. Too much liposuction of an area produces lumps and bumps and can appear abnormal. Also, liposuction relies on skin contraction. If too much fat is removed and the skin has poor elasticity the rippling can be permanent. It is far smarter to remove less fat versus removing too much. Removal of too much fat is more difficult to correct than not having removed enough. Make sure you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in liposuction. Best of luck!

Answer: Liposuction Results & After care includes RF treatments (Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra) Cellutone/zwave, hyperbaric oxygen It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. You most likely have swelling which can last 3-6 months. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Final results within six months to a year Congratulations on your procedure! If I were you, I wouldn’t worry too much about my appearance at this point. It’s just been two months, and most of the swelling usually subsides starting three months after surgery. You’ll be able to see the final results of your liposuction within six months to a year. Continue wearing your compression garment as instructed and attend your follow-up consults with your surgeon.
