I am considering Liposuction for my upper arms and the doctors I received consultations from informed me that I will be accommodated one pair of ace bandages and I'll have to purchase more elsewhere. I am kinda of disappointed that all 3 doctors failed to provide me with a specific type of arm compression sleeve to purchase. I just want to ensure quality results for my arms after the procedure. Thank you in advance for the advice.
Answer: Garments after arm liposuction How generous of your surgeons to "comp" you a pair of elastic bandages. Garments we order for patients having arm liposuction come from either Medical Z in Houston, TX, Marena in Lawrenceville, GA, or Design Veronique in Richmond, CA. All three of these companies design, manufacture, and market very high quality post-surgical compression wear that can be ordered to fit your measurements. Sometimes, "ACE" type elastic bandages are preferred over vests with compression sleeves, but in general, they tend to unravel as you use your arms, and it's difficult to apply even pressure with each wrap of the bandage. If too tight, they cause localized indentations and swelling of your wrists and hands. if too loose, they come undone, and are therefore ineffective. Well fitted compression wear may be a good investment for at least a couple of weeks after your procedure. Full disclosure though: There's no scientific study I'm aware of that proves compression garments will improve your result over elastic bandages, or over no compression at all.

Answer: Compression Garments After Arm Liposuction Compression garments must be worn for 24 hours longer than the treated area drains for Tumescent Liposuction with open drainage. Closed incisions resulting in retained blood tinged anesthetic fluids may require that the patient wear the compression garments for a longer time period. Some patients find comfort in wearing the compression garments for an extended period of time. HK Surgical sells a spandex compression garment that resembles a Bolero Jacket. It has ¾ length sleeves, and extends from shoulder to just below the breasts on the torso. It is comfortable and can be worn for an extended period of time. The garment fits snugly and has adjustable hook and eye closures down the front.

Answer: Arm Liposuction After Care--Compression, Hyperbaric Oxygen, Lymphatic Massage I recommend following up with the Doctor who is doing your procedure for a recommendation. In addition to a customized compression plus arm sleeve, I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help resolve swelling. This is typical liposuction after care. For best results with arm liposuction, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER HI DEF in combination with ThermiRF and fat grafting. This combination gives the most toned, defined results for circumferential liposuction. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer.
