How long exactly is the recovery after back liposuction? What is the diet that follows after?

I was thinking of getting back liposuction in March along with my arms. I am 136 lbs at 5'4. I work= have limited time to have time off. I was wondering how much time needed post op. Usual protocol after? Medications I have to be on? For how long? Foods to avoid? post op I wanted to do a water fast for a week at a clinic since I have been getting sick a lot & I want to cleanse my system. Will this be an extreme thing? should I not do this during this time? if not how long after the lipo can i?

Thanks for the question. It’s too early to comment over the result. First couple of weeks after the surgery you can back to work and couple of weeks later your permanent recovery will start. It’s possible to see some major changes in Liposuction results till the end of 12 months recovery. I wish you all the best.

Don't do any fasts after surgery as it will affect your body's ability to heal.  It is important to have a good healthy diet after surgery.  Any special fast should only be done after you have completely recovered from surgery, around 3 months.  The number of days off depends on each person and is usually a couple of days although you may be returning to work with drains in place.  Massage and compression garments will be recommended for at least 6 weeks after surgery.

If you do tumescent liposuction of the back, you will need to wear a compression garment for 3 weeks. The majority of pain is the first few days. You need to avoid a shower the first 2 days and then you can take a quick shower. However, do not submerge in a body of water for at least 3 weeks post op. You can resume exercises in a few days after surgery, but wear your garment and take it easy. Avoid extreme diets. Liposuction is meant to remove deep fatty deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise.
