I had 1ml of Juvederm lip filler yesterday for the first time. Is it normal for you to get/feel lumps afterwards?

On the left corner of my mouth I have a rather noticeable lump when I speak or open my mouth. The lady who did my precidure said it was just swelling and that it would go down, and on the right hand side on my top lip (inside my mouth) it feels abit lumpy, Also it is abit uncomfortabl for me. As I said is this a normal part of swelling (lumps) I was told not to massage them myself as I could move them. What is the best way to calm the swelling and get rid of the lumps?

Hi and thank you for your question. This can be normal after lip injections. I would wait at least 2 weeks before assessing your results. If you're unhappy with the final result, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase. Best of luck.

Yes, this can be typical after lip filler. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

There can be some swelling and/or lumps after lip injections which can last 1-2 weeks. You can apply firm pressure between two fingers on the lips for a few days, for 5 mins a time, in order to help decrease swelling and even out the lumps. If you're unhappy with your final results you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

After receiving juvederm filler, it is not uncommon to develop a lump or lumps.  Gently massaging can help.  It usually takes about 2 weeks for the Juvederm filler to settle.  Have your fillers injected by an experienced dermatologist or plastic surgeon for best results.

Hi megs111,Thanks for your question. It is perfectly normal to have swelling and feel some lumps after lip filler. When you go back to the physician for a follow-up they can massage it for you. In order to help with swelling, you can ice your lips off and on throughout the day. Swelling usually subsides over the first 2-3 days. Typically your follow up would be 2-3 weeks after the injection but if the lumps are bothersome I suggest visiting the physician sooner. Sometimes, lumps can develop.  If you recently had the procedure, then it is possible that gentle massage may help soften the lumps. Best to ask your injector.

Hello! Thank you for your question. Swelling and or lumps may be expected after lip augmentations any may last 7-12 days (even up to 2 weeks).  You may gently massage the areas you feel lumps for a couple minutes throughout the day which should even the lump(s) out and help subside any swelling. Hyaluronidase injections may also be an option if those lumps do not subside and if you are not content with your results. Best of luck!
