The bump has been growing past the years, and unfortunately it is very noticeable in photos. This really hurts my self esteem and I dream about fixing this. Thanks for any answers!
Answer: Boney bump on nose Your described boney lump is probably a septal deviation. This happens when the bone or cartilage in the septum, which separates the nostrils, moves to one side. One side of the nose may develop a noticeable hump as a result. However, you should see a skilled, Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon. He can examine you, touch your nose, and take care of your treatment plan. Reasons: -Trauma: The septum may deviate if the face is struck, as can happen in an accident or sports injury. -Congenital: Some people have a deviated septum from birth. -Aging: The nose's cartilage may deteriorate and become more prone to moving as we age. For our clients, we correct additional nasal problems, including excessive turbinates, and improve the nose's appearance in addition to straightening the septum during a septoplasty-rhinoplasty. Hope this was helpful! Best wishes, Dr Ali Sajjadian TRIPLE Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Nasal evaluation Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, this is your nasal bone. This can be congenital or acquired through trauma. You may benefit from a rhinoplasty with dorsal hump reduction. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. You should be able to view numerous pictures of actual patients with noses similar to yours performed by your surgeon. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Rhinoplasty Candidate I would recommend starting with a consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon that specializes in rhinoplasty surgery to discuss if rhinoplasty can address your concerns. I would recommend writing down the following questions before scheduling your consultation: 1. Are you unhappy with the tip of your nose? 2. Do you feel that your nose is too wide? 3. Do you want to make your nostrils smaller in appearance? 4. Are you looking to decrease the general size of your nose? I hope some of these questions will help you pinpoint what it is that you don't like about your nose. Cost will vary due to various factors like anesthesia fees, facilities fees, etc. I wish you the best as you research your options when scheduling a rhinoplasty consultation. Sincerely, Philip J. Miller, MD, FACS Double Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Rhinoplasty: Bump on side of nose Dear samanthaaaa44, Thank you for your question. It is difficult to make an accurate assessment and recommendations without an in-person evaluation. I recommend you seek an in-person consultation with a facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty who can perform a thorough evaluation and discuss with you the best surgical options to meet your goals. If there is a true growth in your nose, you may need further evaluation to make sure there is no concerning lesion or tumor there. If it is more the bridge of your nose has become more prominent over time, a rhinoplasty to shave down the area may be a reasonable option.
