Is my rhinoplasty operation correct? I feel a revision eventually would be best do you agree ?

I’ve just had the cast taken off after open rhinoplasty. I’m hoping there is no definition in my nose / structure because of the swelling & that this will reduce? The tip looks bulbous and my nostrils look hidden ? I feel my nose is too short / womanly? Can it be lengthened? I want a masculine and defined nose as opposed to a soft womanly one. Have I received an unsuccessful rhinoplasty, can you understand my concerns and is ammendment possible ? I wish I could have my old nose back.

Dear Chris.McCormick4,Thank you for your concerns. I am sorry to hear about your frustrations. However, since you just had the cast removed it is far too early to judge the final result. I tell all of my patients that the final result of a rhinoplasty cannot be judged until at least 6-12 months after surgery and in some cases even longer. If you are still having concerns after 1 year that would be the time to think about a revision. However, I suggest voicing your concerns with you Board Certified Operating Surgeon. Your concern is quite common right after a rhinoplasty..The swelling will subside with time, and from the looks of the pictures, I think you will get a very satisfactory result.  Almost everyone has some initial concern when the splint first comes off, even though we caution our patients about this.  Sit tight and give it some time.  I think you will end up happy with the result.

Since you just had the cast removed, a lot of swelling is accumulating in your nose at this time. This is evident from the pictures. Give the swelling time to go down and you will see a definite improvement in the definition of your nose. Hope this helps!

No doubt, you are swollen.  Usually once the cast is removed the nose tends to swell. This is not unusual.  I do not see a feminine nose while looking at your pictures.  I see a swollen nose that needs time to change and heal.  Follow up with your surgeon so he can advise you of the changes to expect.
