Will excessive movement damage fat grafts?

Question

I had fat grafts 1 day ago to nasal, cheeks and eye trough areas. I have allergies that cause itchy nose and I inadvertently rubbed my nose quite vigorously causing movements to the surrounding areas. I am really worried that I might have caused damage to grafted fat cells.

At this point, it's difficult to say whether you impacted your final results, but it's unlikely to have caused damage to the fat graft.  After fat grafting, I recommend prp and sculptra to help maintain the fat graft and improve final results. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Maybe, it all depends on the amount of pressure and proximity to the grafts. Discuss this with you your surgeon. Use antihistamines and topical nasal steroid sprays for the itching.

fat grafting is an inexact science even in the most experienced hands. Physical rubbing of the grafts could make them fail but so many other things can too. Whats done is done so don't worry too much. Give everything 6 weeks to settle and then reassess what you have. Hopefully all will be well but don't blame yourself if it isn't, there are many possible reasons other than you rubbing. Hope that helps, Adam Goodwin
