What percentage of transplanted hairs fall off within the first month of surgery?

Roughly what is this range? Or do almost all grafted hairs fall? I want to do FUE and cover up my hairline but rather not look like an ugly duckling with a high forehead for 3-6 months until it grows back. What are the chances some grafts will stay and frame my face? This is the only thing stopping me from going thru with a hair transplant. Rather do SMP first then FUE to avoid the ugly duckling phase (including shock loss).

Recovery varies between patients. Some patients shed their transplanted hairs while others do not - both of which are normal. It is best to speak with your doctor so you can better understand realistic outcomes.

You should expect all of the transplanted hair to begin shedding after the first two weeks. Permanent growth does not begin until the third month or so on average.

Hello, good question. Shedding is very common after a transplant, sometimes all the transplanted hair sheds. It’s difficult to put a number on it as everyone is different. Permanent growth will start about 3 months post op. Is it possible to keep some of your hair long so that you can conceal your transplanted area? I wish you luck.

In my experience, most of the hairs shed in the first month. It is unusual for the hairs to start to grow immediately, although it does happed 5 or 10% of the time,Dr. Robert Jones
