I prefer not to lie on my back due to acid reflux - can I still get Emsculpt Neo?

Question

I am thinking about getting EMSCULPT NEO on my abs but I worry about dealing with ACID Reflux as it is often an issue when I do sit ups. I imagine this treatment will make the condition spike during the treatment contractions. It helps if I am not flat on my back. Can I sit upright when using this treatment? Or partially upright? Thanks!

Thank you for your question! The treatment is 30 minutes long and its recommended to do 4 treatments over two weeks one day apart at least, plus two maintenance treatments two months later. What I can recommend would be propping your head on a pillow to help with the acid reflux. You don't need to lay completely flat.

Hi there, thank you for your question. You could sit slightly upright during your Emsculpt treatment, as long at the applicator will remain flush to the abdomen. I'd also like to mention that the treatment is only 30 minutes! Lastly, some clinics will offer you a complimentary mini session so you can see how it feels prior to dedicating yourself to the package. I recommend asking if your local Provider will offer this to you.

It is better if the patient can be flat on the back during Emsculpt because that stretches out the muscle the most and gives the best effect when Emsculpt neo contracts the muscle but usually we can tilt the entire head of the bed up to avoid acid reflux.

thank you for your question. yes if you are worried about having acid reflux during the treatment you can sit partially upright. a lot of people actually find the treatment more comfortable when their upper body is raised partially.

If you are talking about Emsculpt Neo treatment for your abs, it is best to be as flat as you can; however you should be able to be in a semi-sitting position with head propped up during treatment to avoid reflux.

Someone who is in capable of laying on their back for a short period of time for a medical procedure because of acid reflux should probably have a visit with an internist or gastroenterologist.

In regards to individual views on patient positioning your best bet is to contact individual offices to speak with them directly.

Untreated serious GERD can lead to  complications and should be evaluated
