I had my first implants in 1989, and had them replaced in 2012, repeatedly telling the surgeon I wanted smaller ones. He put the same size back in, ignoring my wishes. I am 66 years old. I just want these things gone. Is there some way to have this done without spending so much money? I feel cheated.

You might go back to the surgeon that replaced your implants and see, since you are a returning patient, if he will give you a discounted rate. Typically, there will be the OR fee, possibly anesthesia, and the surgeon's fee. However, you have waited several years to decide that these implants are too big.

I'm sorry to hear about your concerns after breast augmentation surgery.  This default with your plastic surgeon who  will be in the best position to help you with "discounted" surgery, if possible.   Sometimes,  costs can be reduced depending on several factors.

For example, it is possible (but not necessarily recommended for every patient)  to have breast implants removed under local anesthesia.  Factors that may come into play include the location of the incision used for placement of the breast implant, the use of smooth versus textured breast implants, the  potential need  for additional maneuvers (such as manipulation of the breast implant capsule),  specific patient anxiety/pain threshold,  and the comfort level of the particular surgeon performing procedures under local anesthesia…

Your plastic surgeon will be able to answer your question in a more specific/meaningful fashion.

If just the implants will be removed and not the capsules, you may be able to find a surgeon who uses local anesthesia or IV sedation to help reduce costs.  If you return to your previous surgeon, you may be able to receive a discount since you have had previous surgeries with him.

It depends on the type of implant. I usually remove implants in the office with just a local anesthetic so the cost is much lower.

It is relatively inexpensive to have breast implants removed.   Your surgeon may be willing to work with you.  Discuss your concerns with him or her.
