Removing Permalip implants, will my lips return to normal? (Photos)

Question

I have silicone permalip implants put in three years ago.. It looked pretty god for about a year and now my lip is thicker , wider and longer which almost cover my teeth.. i've been to a ps and recommends removing the implants and doing a lip lift to get my desired look..I.n afraid my lips will deflate and not return normal. I've seen videos of where there was an incision on one side and work out the implant.. My ps advises cutting them out from straight inside my lip to remove them.. Thankyou!!

Removing the implant is pretty simple and can be done under local anesthesia in about 15 minutes.  You are correct - the lips will look a little less voluminous once the implant is removed.  This can be adjusted with either fat transfer at the time of removal, or HA filler injected at a later time.  Another, more permanent option would be lip augmentation surgery.  This is where using your own tissue you can increase the amount of volume your lip has by about 30-40%.  in combination with a lip lift to show more lip along the midline it often does the trick.  Best of luck! I hope some of this helps.

Permalip implants are just as easy to remove as when they were placed. (actually easier) You are correct in that your lips will probably end up a little smaller in volume then before the implants were placed. (although that is somewhat dependent on the original implant size) This effect can be circumvented by putting some fat injections into the encapsulated implant tunnels at the time of their removal. The role of the lip lift is to primarily shorten the nose to lip vertical length. Its only effect on increasing vermin show is in the central upper lip but will have no effect on the sides of the upper lip.
