I was considering getting fillers for my chin (implant isn't an option). My dermatologist mentioned that she wasn't comfortable giving me fillers yet because my mentalis felt tight, and she said it could move. She suggested botox to relax the mentalis. From what I’ve read, it seems like it’s used to smoothen out dimples or wrinkles on the chin. I have neither so I was hoping to get some information in regards to this and whether this would make my chin appear relatively more pronounced.
Answer: Non surgical chin augmentation and sculpting I perform a great deal of non surgical and surgical chin augmentation. Although it would seem that the mentalis muscle activity may have some adverse effect on the placement of filler or an implant into the chin area for augmentation, I have not found this to be the case. You should also see someone who can provide computer imaging for you so that you have a reasonable expectation of what filler can achieve in chin augmentation. My preferred filler in this area is Radiesse.

Answer: Botox to Chin Dear senap,Thank you for your question. I would advise you to avoid Botox injection to your chin when addressing the issues you mentioned. A filler is a safe, reliable, although temporary way to augment the chin and the mentalis muscle should not bare any significant impact on the result. You need to be assessed for mentalis strain, which I doubt you truly have. It helps to see someone with extensive anatomical knowledge, such as a board certified plastic surgeon, in these instances. Hope this helps.Nirmal R. Answer: Improving the chin with fillers (voluma, restylane, juvederm), sculptra, implants, fat, Botox/Xeomin/Dysport Yes, Botox can relax your mentalis muscle. The chin can be improved with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra. This will allow you to try on the look before committing to a permanent option like fat or implants. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Non-surgical chin augmentation Hi,Thank you for including your photos. You appear to be a great candidate for a non-surgical chin augmentation. The filler is relatively dense and injected deep to the muscle; so the change of it moving is low. Best,Mehdi Sina, MD

Answer: Chin Botox or Filler Thanks for your question and photos. A combination of a small amount of botox and filler can work very well together. Using 5 units of botox in the mentalis and placement of a firmer filler such as Radiesse deep onto the bone can give great results. Using Radiesse by itself will work, too but the combination will give better results. Best!
