I have my first consultation in 2 weeks but would like to know what's considered " heavy lifting". I have a 1.5 yr old and won't be able to avoid lifting her for longer than a week (amount of time my husband will be able to take off).
Answer: Minimize I have many mother's with a young child(ren). Most can only have help for a few days. I have them minimize but obviously you are a mom. You will be fine. I have not had one patient have a problem because they were lifting their child.Best Wishes, Nana Mizuguchi, MD

Answer: Lifting your toddler after breast augmentation I advise my patients that for the first few days, they will need to depend on someone else to lift their child. Beginning on Day 3 (if they had surgery on Monday, Day 3 is Thursday), they can lift a child baby – when necessary – into and out of a crib, high chair or car seat. This restriction is to ensure their comfort and minimize the risk of bleeding around the implants. If I could, I would make them wait longer, but I understand that most women can’t depend on someone else to help them for an entire week. They should not carry their child around all day until a couple of weeks after surgery. For more information on this and similar topics, I recommend a plastic surgery Q&A book like "The Scoop On Breasts: A Plastic Surgeon Busts the Myths."

Answer: Breast augmentation post operative instructions Thank you for your question. As every sugreon has their own set of post operatiove instructions it is alwasy advisable to discuss your questions and concerns with them first. That being said, we advise our patients to refrain from any heavy lifting, as in over 10lbs, for a minimum of 4-6 weeks.Best regards,Dr. Lane F. Smith, MDPlastic SurgeonLas Vegas, NV

Answer: Lifting Toddler after breast augmentation In my practice, I recommend waiting two weeks prior to lifting a child after surgery. Lifting a child causes contraction of the chest muscles. If this happens too soon after surgery, the implant can be moved out of position or bleeding or fluid accumulation can occur. Some of this depends on the type of implant and where it is placed. Your surgeon can help guide you through this once he/she assesses your particular situation. Best wishes.

Answer: Lifting Toddler After Breast Augmentation Daer mageeme, Thank you for your question. In our office, heavy lifting is considered anything over 7 pounds and that restriction is place for 4-6 weeks. That being said, I would discuss your concerns about lifting your child with your surgeon during the consultation, all practices have different restrictions/instructions for post op. Good luck!

Answer: Lifting Thank you for your question. Every surgeon has different post operative lifting restrictions. At 2 weeks post op I believe if you use your legs to help lift you will be able to lift your child. Best of luck
