Post tummy tuck: my drain color is kind of dark like dark purple?

Hello and thank you for your question. I agree with my colleagues below. I think you should try and see your surgeon earlier rather than later. If you vomited and then noted a change in the color you could put tension on your muscle repair and caused something to bleed. The color change from red to yellow (apple juice) is normal and is good but changing back to red and then purple is a little concerning. The purple color is usually dark old blood. Thank you for your question.I would notify your surgeon immediately. If you had an episode of vomiting that can stretch and pull on the tummy tuck. The increased pressure from vomiting could of pulled something and caused some bleeding. Also, if the drainage is now a dark color it would lead me to think maybe you have a small hematoma that is now draining through the drain. The best way to determine this is for an in person evaluation.
