Thermage while on microdose Accutane?

Question

My doctor is planning on starting me on the lowest possible dose on a long term course of accutane (20 mg/week) However, I would like to get Thermage soon and I was wondering if you can do Thermage while on low dose accutane? I know a lot of procedures are a no-no while taking accutane, but because of the ultra low dose I'm wondering if I can get away with it.

I recommend following up with your Doctor about their protocol for getting Thermage while taking Accutane. Most Doctor's recommend waiting 6 months. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thermage is a great laser to tighten the skin and produce new collagen and we recommend it all of the time.  However, we do not recommend having any lasers done at the same time that you are on Accutane.  Please consult an expert in skin tightening and Thermage for the best cosmetic results. I do not recommend doing Thermage (even though it is not a laser)  while on Accutane, because the skin is not in a normal state.  Sebaceous glands are shrunken and the natural oils in the skin are greatly reduced while on Accutane.  If you have a few cysts, however, I would do the Thermage first as it may shrink the sebaceous glands so that you do not have breakouts and then I would maintain the results with monthly CoolTouch treatments to keep the cysts inactive.  Be sure to see a skin and laser expert.
