I realize every situation is different, but I am just looking for an estimate. I’ve lost 120 lbs from 320 to 200 and my loose skin is pretty bad. I’ve heard it’s expensive but I’m wondering is there any way to get insurance to cover it. Or where could I go to get a cheaper price. I’m going to get the surgery regardless I just don’t wanna be in debt forever.
Answer: Cost of surgery following large weight loss Congratulations on losing so much weight. I see a lot of patients who have had large weight loss. Unfortunately, it leaves you looking kind of like a Shar-pei puppy with so much loose skin as a result. The usual areas of concern are the arms, breasts, lower body, and thighs. Insurance may cover the cost for the abdominal portion of the surgery but probably nothing else. Also, different doctors have different opinions on how many of these areas can be safely treated during one surgery. Many doctors prefer to break this up into two or more surgeries. This can also affect the cost of the surgery. Finally, different doctors have different fees that they charge for this type of surgery. I would suggest that you schedule appointments with two or more board-certified plastic surgeons who can examine you in person and review your options with you. I would also caution you not to skimp on price when it comes to your body and your health. Don't just go to the cheapest doctor.

Answer: Body lift tummy tuck arm lift male breast reduction weight loss insurance cost Hello, thank you for your question regarding the cost of reconstructive plastic surgery after massive weight loss. Inregards to insurance coverage, this is highly variable from state to state and even with the same insurance policy. There are different teirs even with in the same insurance company. Therefore, it has become impossible to tell what is covered by insurance and what is not covered by insurance. Basically, the best insurance plans are more likely to cover surgical procedures. As expected, the best insurance plans are also the most expensive plans. I have had patients who had excellent insurance and mild to moderate deformity; fortunately for them, their procedure was covered by insurance. On the other hand, I’ve had patients with poor insurance and severe deformities. Unfortunately for them, the procedure was not covered Basically, I would suggest you purchase the best medical insurance plan you can afford. Please try to have your procedures covered. Also, be cautious of the plastic surgeon you choose to submit your insurance proposal. They need to be experienced with submitting to the insurance companies and be willing to at least try. In regards to the cost, costs are highly variable throughout the USA and the world. Cost varies from plastic surgeon to Plastic surgeon and city to city. It’s much like a car. There is no fixed price for a car. There are too many variables. Among other things, cost are based on your plastic surgeon‘s experience and geographic location. I would suggest you meet with at least five or six board-certified plastic surgeons. With growing technology, a lot of plastic surgeons office virtual reality consultations. Then, I go with your gut feeling. Do not go with the least expensive plastic surgeon. You might wind up spending much more paying for complications and revisions. I specialize in Plastic surgery after significant weight loss. Over the past 20 years, I’ve also been working with insurance company I hope I’ve answered your questions regarding reconstructive plastic surgery after massive weight loss. Answer: Body contouring after weight loss Hello and thank you for your question. Congratulations on your weight loss. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Based on your photographs, you are an excellent candidate for body contouring surgery. Cost varies based on geographic region and surgeon expertise. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
