Thank you for questions regarding an itchy rash over your lower body after a 360 circumferential lower body lift. This could be due to a multitude of things. It is most commonly due to the prep used during the procedure. A skin prep is the surgical paint that is used before the lower body lift surgery to sterilize your skin. At the end of the body lift, the skin prep should be washed off. In my years of experience, I have also found some patients being allergic to the binder or the garment. This is rare, but is not inconceivable and does happen. Another possibility is that you could be allergic to medications. If this is the case, you do you need to check the timing of the rash and see if it coincides with ingestion of certain medications. In terms of tracking down exactly what this is, I would suggest you check with your plastic surgeon first. If you are able to remove your garment, I would wash your skin with soap and water. This should remove the skin prep used during the lower body lift surgery. Then, I would replace the garment. If your rash continues the next day or the day after, you could be allergic to your binder or compression garment. If this is the case, I would suggest you put a layer of cotton between your skin on the compression garment. If this area is not affected and you do not have a rash underneath the cotton, then you are probably allergic to the compression garment. If you are allergic to your garment, there are different compression garment companies with different types of materials.I hope this helps in your recovery after your lower body lift.
