Hello! Wanted to get some thoughts from different doctors. I had a fat transfer done to my mid cheek area to supposedly help with acne scars. It didn’t really help with that but it did make my face wider. I was wondering if buccal removal would benefit me in helping me reduce my wide face I am 26 male and normal Body weight
Answer: Might help but not correct everything Dear pawkiie, Thank you for your question. Buccal fat removal focuses on reducing the buccal fat pad, primarily impacting the lower part of the cheeks under the cheekbone. While this procedure can modestly decrease cheek size, its effects may be limited to the area below the zygomatic arch. Considering additional strategies, such as cheek liposuction or alternative fat-reducing techniques, might complement the desired outcome. I recommend consulting with a qualified plastic surgeon to explore the most suitable options for your specific goals. If you have further queries or need additional information, please feel free to ask.

Answer: Buccal fat pad removal You are a good candidate for buccal fat pad reduction based on your photo. When a portion of the fat pad is removed, there is a slimming effect on the lower face. In patients that can benefit from this procedure (they have a significant amount of lower facia fat) there are no long-term effects to be concerned about. In addition, I would recommend lower facial liposuction at the same time.

Answer: Buccal fat removal I do not recommend young people have their Buccal fat removed.Doing so can lead to problem later in life when loss of facial fat becomes his sign of premature aging. Each person‘s face, including its contour is primarily determined by facial bone structure. Most people have a fairly normal fat distribution. Some providers are excited about doing the procedure but the long-term consequences Have shown the procedure has long-term risks that must be calculated. Primary facial aesthetic issues are usually not directly related to fat content and rather skeletal structure. I’m not sure who your provider was for the acne treatment but fat transfer is not a good treatment for acne scars. There are a few successful treatment for acne scars. Individual very deep Icepick acne scars are usually best. Treated with direct excision. It is a challenging condition to treat, but fat transfer isn’t going to do it. Make sure providers have sufficient skill and experience and can show you the healthy collection of before and after pictures before signing up for any surgery. And experience plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients for any commonly performed the procedure. I also recommend always having multiple consultations to help find the best provider and confirm your assessment. Best, Matt Hagstrom, MD
