I do this often but only in patients who have a lot of hand veins AND have veins in their arms. In the future, if you were to need IV fluids you don't want to have no veins for access. Veins can be camoflaged with fillers too. Please only see an expert for this. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question.Volume loss with aging exposes veins in the hands. Treatments vary and with significant volume loss, an option would be to 'hide' such veins with fillers (Radiesse, fat). It is safe to do foam sclerotherapy on hand veins. Hand vein treatment is strictly a cosmetic procedure and these veins can be treated by sclerotherapy, laser or removal through small incisions. If these veins are treated then upper arm veins will need to be used for iv's or blood drawing.
