Lip Incompetence, what are my options? (Photo)

My overbite is gone but my lips still don't touch! I had a consultation for Orthognathic surgery for top and bottom jaws and genioplasty but it took almost a year to get approved by my insurance and I decided that I absolutely do NOT want to do that. I have spoken to a cosmetic dentist in the area about lip re-positioning surgery paired with botox of the upper lip and lip fillers. My only concern with that is relapse of the lip. Is this relapse common? and are there any other options?

Often more filler is needed than expected. I suggest going back to your board certified physician and having more filler placed.  Best, Dr. Emer.

They will go back to what they naturally where before doing the fillers. You should start out with maybe 1cc and go from there. You do not want to overdo too much filler in the lips. It also depends on the look you are going for too. You can always add more filler to the lips if needed. Just...

There is no long term changes to the lip after filler injections that are shot term like hyaluronic acid based (juvederm, restylane etc).  Best, Dr. Emer.

They are swollen which is normal, I would give it a few days and see how they look. You can also lightly hold ice on them to help.
