Lip Incompetence, what are my options? (Photo)

Question

My overbite is gone but my lips still don't touch! I had a consultation for Orthognathic surgery for top and bottom jaws and genioplasty but it took almost a year to get approved by my insurance and I decided that I absolutely do NOT want to do that. I have spoken to a cosmetic dentist in the area about lip re-positioning surgery paired with botox of the upper lip and lip fillers. My only concern with that is relapse of the lip. Is this relapse common? and are there any other options?

I appreciate your concern, but physical exam is imperative. Before you do anything, wait until your braces are removed for better evaluation. I do not believe lip reduction, lip augmentation or Botox is the answer for you. I believe for the best, long term result, orthognathic surgery is your best option, because it will address your bite, lip incompetence and chin. Remember, many times, the easiest solution is not the right one! Good luck!
