Thank you for your question. As has been mentioned in a number of the previous posts, it is often times easier to assess your issues when Botox and fillers have worn off. Botox generally lasts three to six months, while fillers can last a bit longer. In general, we usually recommend waiting at least six months after having injections, fillers or even a thread lift before proceeding with a definitive facelift. This allows the surgeon to more clearly see exactly what the issues are when you don't have any other treatments affecting the tissue. I hope this answers your question, and best of luck.
The answer depends on a few considerations. If your lift will be to correct loose skin and soft tissue, then I think about 6 weeks to allow healing of any inflammation from the threads is justified. If you used fillers to add volume in the upper cheeks and might consider fat grafting there, then I would wait longer for the filler to begin absorbing. I personally don't think that Botox would cause any problem in planning or performing a lift.
Hello, thank you for your question. You should wait for the Botox results to go away (3-4 months) before pursuing surgery. That way, you can get a better assessment of your concerns and have a more effective treatment.
I appreciate your question. Botox administered to the upper face will not interfere with a facelift. If dermal fillers were placed in the area where the lift will be performed, it is best to wait until they have mostly dissolved to undergo surgery. This ensures your surgeon has an accurate baseline to create improvements that are subtle and natural. Thread lifts can also be a contraindication for a facelift. I would wait until at least 6 months after this treatment before moving forward with your surgery. Make sure you choose an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon when the time arrives to ensure your procedure is both safe and successful.
Thanks for your questions. Ideally one should wait for the effect of these procedures to be gone before a surgical procedure is done. Of the procedures you have mentioned, Botox is for upper face and forehead and does not interfere with facelift. Thread lifts do not answer for long either but can interfere with the surgical procedure. The fillers can last upto 2 years but it is not essential to wait for that long . There is no objective answer for this but I usually wait till I see signs of the procedures going down unless the procedures have been done where they do not interfere with a surgical facelift . Please find an experienced Board certified Plastic Surgeon who can examine you and help you with all your concerns. All the best.
Thank you for the great question. In an ideal world, the threads and fillers would be gone when you have your facelift. This will help with accurately determining the vector and extent of the lift, as well as any additional volumizing that you are having (e.g., fat grafting). Botox is ok for areas that are not being treated, such as the forehead lines and 11's. I ask patients to wait to treat crow's feet lines for a couple months around their facelift. Best of luck and take care!
Thank you for this question. With all the non-surgical treatments these days, this is a very pertinent question. There is no absolute answer because it depends where and now much was done. In general however, botox is used in the upper face and long as the effect is desirable, it would not affect the ability to have a lower face and neck lift. The treatment would need to be continued to maintain the result though. If the plan is for a forehead lift however, I would prefer waiting 6 months for an accurate assessment before surgery. Fillers are most often placed in the mid face and around the mouth area where the facelift has the least effect on adding volume. This does not preclude the ability to have a facelift, but more filler (or fat) may be required to maintain the same effect over time. In reality, volume enhancement is still necessary after a facelift in many cases anyway and also to maintain desirable proportions as we continue to age. Most thread lift procedures utilize dissolving sutures that are mostly absorbed within 6 months. Regardless, having remaining suture is not a contraindication to surgery, especially if the results are not adequate. Keep in mind that the effect of botox and fillers will continue to diminish over time and can be adjusted periodically as needed. One exception would be permanent fillers that may need to be surgically excised if they are produce an undesirable effect. My best to you,Dr. Fink
There is no contraindication to have a facelift having had Botox recently. With fillers is a different story and it depends upon where you had the filler placed. If it is in the mid or lower face, it may be harder to make an accurate assessment of the facial position when performing a lift. If it is around the mouth area, then it probably does not make much of a difference. I would probably wait at least six months after undergoing a thread lift procedure as the body continues to heal from that but then it should be ok to proceed.
Thank you for your question. Much more information is needed such as where the products were placed, what time period, what facelift procedure is being done, etc. I would discuss these details with your plastic surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. With some treatments it might be ok to proceed at 3 months, with others you might need to wait a full year.Hope this helps!Dallas R. Thank you for your question. The effects of Botox will typically last 3 to 4 months depending on the patient and the number of units injected. If you have prolonged inflammation or swelling after a thread- lift procedure, then 6 months should be an adequate amount of time to wait for that inflammation to resolve. The decision on when to proceed with a facelift should be made after an individual consultation between you and your plastic surgeon. With that being said, 3 to 6 months after Botox and threads should be sufficient. Take care and be well.Charles A. Messa, III, MD, FACS
