It has been 4 weeks & I don't think it looks any better or like it is even healing. My PS said to pack it will dry gauze. It does still drain some but it is a gapping hole. I have been taking vitamins, eating protein & drinking plenty of water. Is there anything I can do to speed this healing up? I am going to Cancun in September & I am worried this hole will still be open. My PS said this isn't anything to worry about but now I am worried because I don't see any difference in the healing. Help!

I usually place a absorbant cotton pad over the drain hole, held in place by wrap alone. Thats because some discharge from the drain site happens and that may stain the garments. after 24 hour of removal, drain hole closes and does not discharge liquid. I see no harm in you doing that. Infection...
I believe it's because at this point in healing you're still swollen and can still at times not vertical, become more swollen. I think that is what may be causing your tightness. Give it some more time and I think you'll feel much better.Thank you for your question.Melinda Lacerna, MD FACS
