I read how you should purchase a recliner or rent a hospital bed for maybe the first two weeks. I would like to know is it ok to use a zero gravity chair that I found at Big lots on clearance since I cannot afford to purchase a recliner or rent a hospital bed.
Answer: Abdominoplasty and recovery Positioning after an abdominoplasty is a big part of healing and comfort. I ask my patients to elevate their knees on two pillows and elevate their back. This will decrease the tension and make you more comfortable. A recliner can satisfy all these requirements

Answer: Tummy tuck recovery You may have to bend over a bit after your surgery. 99% of my tummy tuck patients go home the same day of surgery. If the chair is comfortable then it is good. Do not restrict your self to one position for more then two hours while awake. Good luck...

Answer: Tummy Tuck Chair Thank you for your question. From what I understand a zero gravity chair has a gentle bend to it where your hips and torso are flexed. Therefore, if you can get in and out of it, it should work. Alternatively, you could use your bed and use extra pillows to flex you knees and to elevate your head. Good luck.

Answer: I'm having abdominoplasty, panniculectomy and lipo of the flanks at the end of the month. Do I need to purchase a special chair? You ask a great question. Unfortunately, your post did not include the photo of the chair you are mentioning, but let me see if I can clear things up for you.I have never asked my patients or required my patients to purchase a special chair or rent a hospital bed after a tummy tuck. After your surgery, you will need to walk bent forward at the waist for 3-4 days until your body naturally relaxes and you can stand up straight. You will also need to do this while in bed. In bed, you simply need to prop your back up on some pillows so you are essentially sitting up at the waist. When you are sitting in a chair at the kitchen table or watching TV, for example, you are in the correct position. A recliner is a nice, natural chair to use because it keeps you bent at the waist if you are reclined in it, but it is not necessary.Make sure you mention this to your Plastic Surgeon. He or she may feel very strongly about the type of chairs you sit in, but I would be surprised if they make you purchase something or rent a bed. I hope this helps, and good luck!
