How soon after giving birth can I get a mini facelift? I will be breastfeeding as well.

Hi Dr’s! Thank you for your time today. I am an almost 32 year old female with mid-face sagging and some slight jowling beginning. I am currently pregnant and would like to get this procedure, and possibly a subtle brow lift, sometime after I give birth. What I’m not sure of is: is it safe to have done while breastfeeding if I pump before/after the anesthesia and don’t use pain killers? I am worried that my face might scare my newborn. What is the healing process like? Thank you!

Hello !

To undergo any plastic surgery procedure, it is recommended to wait at least 6 months after giving birth.

The medications used during the procedure can affect your breast milk. 
You may also be prescribed narcotic pain medication for a certain period of time which can have the same effects. Those are the reasons why it is also recommended to wait after you finish breastfeeding.

The recovery :

SUTURE REMOVAL: 5 days after surgery for the first set and 10 days for the second. As you wake up from surgery, your face will be exposed, your head and neck will be bandaged with a chinstrap, there will be drains behind your ears and you should be in minimal pain. Expect to stay in the recovery room for an hour before the town car takes you to your aftercare facility. By the third week, you’ll look and feel much better. Most patients are back at work about 7-14 days after surgery. If you need it, special camouflage makeup can mask most bruising that remains.

I would recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your goals.
