Is vaser lipo while awake using just lidocaine shots going to hurt really bad?

You ask a very personal question that over the internet we can not really advise since we do not know you.....

 I preferred to do all my liposuction avoiding general Anastasia.That said the procedure can be uncomfortable and most patients generally require some form of sedation or narcotic pain medications to tolerate the procedure. It's highly variable.First of all meticulous technique is imperative in regards to the placement of local anesthesia.Secondly the level of aggressiveness of the procedure makes a big difference in how the procedure is perceived. Thirdly there is a big variance from person-to-person.  Full abdominal liposuction with no sedation can be very uncomfortable.Twilight anesthesia in the hands of someone with experience is ideal in my opinion. Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D. 

Any liposuction, including Vaser lipo, can be done relatively comfortably with just local injections of lidocaine, if the area to be treated is relatively small.  For areas about the size of your palm, local anesthesia with or without sedation may be a reasonable alternative.  For larger areas, you may ant to consider deeper sedation or general anesthesia.  Discuss you options fully with your surgeon.  Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
