Thanks for your question! I don't think that SmartLipo would be the best choice for you right now. Based on your photos, I think that you may have some visceral or intrabdominal fat that can't be treated with liposuction or SmartLipo. Also, SmartLipo is better for targeted areas. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon in person to ensure that you are treated appropriately. Best of luck!
The presence of diabetes and hypertension by no means contraindicate undergoing liposuction. As a matter of fact overweight patients tend to improve their diabetes after high volume liposuction. Now, this is not a procedure to be taken lightly. It has to be performed only if your diabetes and hypertension are under good control, the procedure is performed at a facility with certification by a national agency that certifies quality of care and high standards of patient safety and more importantly by a surgeon with ample experience and good outcomes in cases such as yours. Many surgeons refuse to take care of cases such as yours but in my practice this is an everyday type of case that under the right circumstances provides great results and long term benefits. Good luck
Diabetes and hypertension are not, in and of themselves, absolute contraindications to surgery (as long as they are well controlled). However, it is important to remember that "elective" surgery is by its very nature unneccessary. Thus it behooves both patient and physician to be sure all variables are optimized prior to surgery. Safety is priority number one and there is no surgery worth taking additional risks. You should have a thorough review of your medical history during your consultation. Your surgeon will likely require medical clearance as well as lab work/blood work prior to your procedure. This will ensure that you are a safe candidate. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
Sorry but you are NOT a candidate fr ANY TYPE of Liposuction, even SmartLipo. You need weight loss or gastric bypass first. Seek in person additional consultations because you will find a doctor to operate upon you and just take your $$ without you achieving a nice result because you are so overweight.
however you still need to have your blood sugar controlled. I have you eat normally and take your medication normally. You absolutely have to have your blood pressure controlled too. there is epinephrine in the local anesthetic which can raise your blood pressure. also looking at your pictures, you appear to have a lot of abdominal fat and i suspect a lot of it is behind the muscle. If you are considering doing your abdomen, you should lose some weight first. Smartlipo is a great tool but it is not a substitute for dieting and exercising to lose weight. david berman md
Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent procedure. While it is normal for the body to retain water weight post procedure, you are also experiencing swelling as well while your body is healing. It's best to not focus on your post-op weight, this should return to normal...
I would advise to ask your doctor. My personal experience is that although many smokers are advised to quit smoking before this procedure many don't and I still perform the procedure without problems. Best wishes.
Thank you for your question. It is perfectly fine to continue to lose weight after having smart lipo. It can only enhance your result.Best of luck!
