Can I get an alar reduction without a full reconstruction?

Question

I wanted to do an alar base reduction but all the surgeons I’ve seen wants to do a whole reconstruction which I do not want. Is it possible to just reduce the base of the alar?

The short answer is that it is entirely up to you as the patient to determine how much of a change you desire. I personally have done alar reductions many times without altering the remaining structure of the nose and it is very patient dependent. In addition, you can always do the rest of your nose at a later date if you change your mind.

I have performed soar base reduction alone without any other rhinoplasty work with great results. Without photos I can’t say fir sure if you are a candidate for this . I’m not sure that are being talked into a more. extensive procedure  than what you want.
