Will my scoliosis affect my breast symmetry if I got an augmentation? My scoliosis affects my shoulder symmetry, with one shoulder is higher than the other. When I am standing up straight, (from my ribs to my shoulders) I look as if I'm actually leaning to the side. With that said, my breast are symmetrical as of now, but is it possible that a Dr. will make one breast lower and asymmetrical to my body because of my shoulders?
Answer: Surgery Your surgeon should be able to do your procedure, but it will not change your bone anatomy and you still may have one shoulder higher than the other.

Answer: Symmetry If you are symmetrical now then breast augmentation should not disrupt this. When implants are placed they settle behind the nipple/areola complex. Unless symmetry is specifically addressed during surgery, the symmetry you have preoperatively should be essentially the same after. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

Answer: Good question. Breast asymmetry can be related to both the breasts and or the chest shape and is more common than the exception, as is scoliosis to some degree or other. That said, without examining you in person to at least seeing photos, it is difficult to comment specifically. An experienced board certified plastic surgeon will take into account all aspects of you chest and breast shape and dimensions and determine which implants would be optimal for you to achieve the aesthetic you result your re seeking, with optimal symmetry being an essential goal. Please consult with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon who can advise you specifically. Be sure that your own sense of aesthetics seems to align with that of your plastic surgeon, and prepare for your consultation by selecting images of women's breasts you find to be beautiful and which you hope to be able to realize in your own surgical outcome. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Breast augmentation Hi, thank you for sharing your question. It is difficult to answer this question without a physical exam or at the least photos, however, your breast anatomy will dictate the placement and symmetry of your augmentation. The scoliosis should not have a significant bearing on it unless it significantly affects your chest wall. I hope this helps.

Answer: BA candidate Dear kennadeeglunt282, if you have no asymmetry no, there is a high chance that you won't have asymmetry after breast augmentation. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
