I had one syringe of Voluma split between each cheek and now have a strange eye bag, what do I do? (Photo)

Thank you for your question.The area immediately below the pupil at the junction of the lower lid and the upper cheek extending toward the temple is prone to swelling and fluid accumulation after surgery or injury. This is why we end up with a characteristic "black eye" after these events.Malar edema is also seen in many people. This is a puffy look to the area which can vary from day to day. Meals with high salt content can also make it worse.This occurs because the space is bound and the lymphatic drainage is limited. Hyaluronic acid fillers absorb water and if placed in this space will create the look you describe. Your doctor is correct and hyaluronidase is the answer. I would wait at least a week from the first injection of the hyaluronidase before considering injecting more. Injecting the area will cause swelling which will take some time to resolve.Whether you place more is based on your clinic findings now. The resolution on your photo is not good so I can't give a more definitive answer based on it.Good luck and I hope this was helpful

if you are worried about your filler results because there is swelling, lumps or bumps, give it 2 weeks to settle and then consider reversing it with hyaluronidase.   in the mean time you can use red light such as lightstim, radiofrequency such as exilis ultra and venus legacy and Inmode forma/contoura.  The cheeks always should be injected when doing the under eye and you maybe swollen because of poor techniue so see an expert for the best treatment and management.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hi, thank you for the inquiry. I would recommend you to wait for 2 weeks after first hyaluronidase injection to allow healing to occur. Then if required it can be repeated. Combination approach is the best in your case. Hyaluronidase along with energy based devices like Forma / Venus legacy can be beneficial. Please consult a reputable doctor for further evaluation.

If the filler was place too superficial in this part of the face, it can disrupt lymphatic drainage and lead to fluid building. In many cases, dissolving the filler will improve the swelling. It can take several sessions of hyaluronidase to dissolve Voluma.
