Heavy eyelid after Botox (Photo)

Sometimes as the Botox migrates causing the muscle to droop. This can happen in cases of inexperience or when too much of the product is used. Please ensure you are visiting a certified and well trained physician within a reputable clinic and not a beauty salon/spa or at home visit. This effect should start to alleviate within three weeks or so, but it will take the course of 3 or more months for the drooping to completely disappear. If you cannot wait this long, your physician may use Iopidine eye drops to restimulate the muscle and improve the appearance.

Hello!Thank you for your question and photo. As others have mentioned, sometimes the product may diffuse into surrounding muscles. This is more likely to happen when larger volumes are used. It would be best to re-evaluate the position of the lid/brow after 2 weeks to determine how much they have dropped. They are unlikely to drop further after 2 weeks but if you have true eyelid droop, eye drops can be prescribed to help raise the lid a couple millimeters. Hope this helps!

Asymmetry after botox can be improved but only by administering more botox to the side that has more movement.  It doesn't sound like this is what you are looking for, it sounds like the side that has more movement is the side that you are more happy with.  The right side which you said looks heavy and the eyelid is hooded will likely improve in a couple of weeks, but can take several months to totally wear off.  Good luck!

Migration of Botox into the legator (elevator) muscle of the upper eyelid will cause ptosis or dropping of the eyelid. This can be treated by administration of drops by your physician. Otherwise the effects will slowly resolve with time (3-6 months). In general, even in patients with tolerance to Botox, I have not found it necessary to inject over 65-70 units total for the areas you have mentioned.

Your left eye brow is definitely heavy . Just wait 7 more days and see if everything will be counterbalanced  when full effect of Botox takes place.  

It would help to see your before pictures to see what your baseline is like, but I definitely do see a brow droop. 72 units is a lot of Botox for those areas, and most likely you were given too much to your forehead which excessively weakened it and caused it to drop. This will completely go back to normal once the Botox wears off in 3-4 months. A treatment such as ThermiSmooth may help elevate the brows a little bit. I would not add more Botox at this point. For your age and size, you likely do not need more than about 30-40 units.  Do I need to say that the botox needs to be correctly placed?  I recommend that you let this wear off about 6 weeks and then get a correcting treatment.  The rationale for waiting is so that you will see the impact of the correcting service.  When you have this much botox effect very little is moving.  Study the attached video about the Microdroplet Lift.  This is the technique I would use for helping this type of situation.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  It does take a full 10-14 days to see your final results from Botox, but 72 units was a heavy dosing for most individuals.  The amount injected into your forehead was likely too much, causing the heavy brow sensation and inability to raise it.  I would not advocate for any additional treatment at this point but rather would allow any remaining Botox to fully mature.  Once your results are at their long-term appearance, reassess your dosing and injection pattern with your surgeon to make adjustments on subsequent treatment sessions.

It is possible for people to feel some heaviness in the brow and upper eyelid after Botox, but many times this is fairly temporary.  Since your Botox treatment was a week ago, I would recommend waiting another week or two and see if there is any improvement.  If there is not, I would return to the physician who treated you to see if a touch up could be done to help with your issue.
