I was wondering if you’re able to have a bbl done with sciatic nerve issues ? Pain radiates buttcheek, groin, hip area. Would these issues affect BBL procedure ?
Answer: Can you get BBL with Sciatica ? The swelling may temporarily aggravate this condition, but this is really more about the source of the sciatic pain, particularly if this is result of herniated disc or something remote from the location of BBL. The sciatic nerve is easily avoided in fat placement, as the injections are performed superficial to it. Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: BBL candidate Dear camillarose2018, you should resolve your back pain issue before you consider elective procedure because it can have a negative impact on your surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: BBL & Sciatica Thanks for your question. In general, medical issues should be resolved first and there is a chance that fat grafting to the buttocks can make the sciatica worse. Please always consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Take care, Moises Salama M.D., Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: BBL and Sciatica? - Yes Sciatic nerve injuries are a thing of the past with newer BBL techniques that do not inject the fat intra-muscularly. And any issues you may already have does not impact your candidacy for lipo and BBL. If you are a candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), the optimal outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique. These three processes have demonstrated over 95% fat graft take. This means that your results will be stable as long as you maintain your weight. As an official VASER trainer, I am routinely referred unhappy BBL patients. One of the most common reasons for disgruntled BBL patients is that patients are not able to accurately communicate their desired buttocks goals to their surgeons. A buttocks assessment tool can be an invaluable tool to communicate to your surgeon the exact buttocks size and shape you are desiring. A Skype or Facetime consultation with a BBL specialist can help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD,FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee

Answer: Getting a BBL and sciatica The underlying cause for sciatica is almost always at the spinal level. While pain is felt in the buttocks and thigh the nerve compression happens as the nerve roots exit the spine from conditions such as bulging discs or spinal stenosis. Because there is rarely parholigy in the buttocks a BBL should not cause your sciatica to worsen. If you have a diagnosis that indicates there's a pressure on the sciatic nerve in your buttocks then it may be better to hold off on this procedure but most likely a BBL would not aggravate your sciatica. If you've not had a work up for your sciatica then I highly recommend that you do. This is generally going to be an MRI of your spine followed by steroid injections if there's nerve impingement. I can tell you from personal experience my sciatica was debilitating to the point of having to cancel surgeries and I'm now pain-free after my second steroid injection. I'm still not getting a BBL but you probably could without difficulties. Talk to your plastic surgeon and primary care doctor about these things. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
