Are there any tips or recommendations for things I can do before and after procedure to yield the best/better overall results?

hello, thank you for your question. Every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative and postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. Your surgeon will have some recommendations.

I do not have my patients use any special products or foods before or after liposuction of the chin and jowls.  I do normally have patients avoid medications that can cause bleeding though and I do have patients wear a compression garment afterwards.  Your surgeon may have different instructions, so I would recommend contacting the office of your surgeon to get specific instructions for before and after surgery.  

The only thing patients should be focused on before Liposuction is confirmation of the skill of their surgeon and to make sure that they’ve had in person consultations and had enough consultations with different providers to a found someone who is going to deliver the best results.Other than avoiding things that cause blood thinning like ibuprofen there isn’t really a whole lot patients can do or should avoid. You may want to review with your provider.Liposuction of the jowls carries a small risk of injury to the buccal branch of the facial nerve. When these injuries happen they are usually temporary. Some plastic surgeons are reluctant to do liposuction in that area because of it. Using small cannula’s and gentle technique should help minimize the chance of this.
