Can I take an Epsom salt bath at any point to help with reducing swelling? Or may I use DMSO with my arnica, to help reduce swelling? It has been one week since my operation.
Answer: Post Liposuction Hello, Being only one week out from your procedure the best recommendation I can give is patience! The bruising and swelling is going to take time. I do not recommend submerging your incision sites in water until the scabs have formed and fallen off, typically this is 2 to 3 weeks. You could add Arnica tablets and Ibuprofen to assist with the inflammation. The biggest factor will be time. There has been trauma to the surgical area and it takes time for this to heal. I would reach out to your surgeon on more healing instructions to see how they recommend handling your questions.

Answer: Smart Lipo Aftercare--add Venus Legacy, Exilis, Vanquish, Cellutone, ZWave, VASER, ThermiRF I recommend following up with a Doctor about aftercare following Smart Lipo. I suggest lymphatic massage, hyperbaric oxygen, and RF treatments like venus legacy to help reduce any swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Healing after SMART liposuction Hi and welcome to our forum! Congratulations on your recent procedure...The procedure of liposuction is an "insult" to the soft tissues, resulting in swelling which will initially totally obscure the operative result. The purpose of a compression garment is to prevent bleeding and to control swelling. We usually recommend its use for the first 4-6 weeks after the procedure. 60-80% of the swelling should subside within the first 6 weeks, with the remainder slowly subsiding over 6-12 months. I do not recommend the use of DMSO as it is not approved for use in the US. Epsom salts will not accomplish much. There is no catalyst to speed up the process of wound healing. Continue followup care with your plastic surgeon... Best wishes...

Answer: Just give it time I think it is perfectly fine after a few days for you to take Epsom salt baths. you can start using Arnica immediately. The main thing to remember is that your swelling will go down regardless of what you do. it just takes time. You will also continue to improve for 6 months after your procedure.david berman md
