Smart lipo is used to reduce fat beneath the chin and along the border of the mandible (the jowls). A facelilt tightens the skin of the face itself and can also be used to tighten loose skin (not remove fat) from the chin and jawline areas. The two procedures can be combined, but they are not treating the same issues and are not interchangeable.
Hello and thank you for your question. SmartLipo is ideal for removing fat in the neck and jowl areas. Since a facelift treats the skin above these areas, a facelift and SmartLipo complement each other very well and are often performed together with great results. Because they treat different aesthetic concerns, they are not interchangeable procedures. There are alternatives for SmartLipo, including a neck lift for more serious symptoms, and Kybella for more moderate symptoms. SmartLipo remains one of the most highly effective and reliable treatments for contouring the neck area. Schedule an in-person consultation with your board-certified facial plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns and identify the best course of treatment. Good luck! - Elbert T. Cheng, MD
Smart lipo is very good for removing neck fat along with some skin tightening. It works well for heavy necks and not very well for thin, wrinkled necks.Aging continues after facelift and SmartLipo, and in ten years you will liklely wish some further aging improvements.
It depends on each persons situation. If there is fat in the area, I prefer Smart Lipo to remove the fat and extra lasering during the procedure to achieve good skin tightening. If there is very little fat, I prefer a facelift procedure (surgical or threads).

With or without applying a binder for the first few weeks post lipo, patients will experience a post-inflammatory reaction to the procedure. Inflammatory fluid collects in the subcutaneous space. Patients are often unhappy that they cannot "see" the results initially. Not to worry! You have...
Thanks for your question. You are nowhere near being healed yet. Any liposuction procedure takes a solid 3-6+ months to have the swelling resolve, skin tighten, and reach a new baseline. No one looks great at only 1 week out. Follow your surgeon's instructions and be patient with it... you will...
