I have had varicose vein removal twice in the last 20 years and it's time again to do it. I've had both laser and sclerotherapy. Plus sclerotherapy on the spider veins. Which do I have first?

Answer: Surgery order First, I would find a qualified vein expert who specializes in veins. If you have not had a detailed ultrasound to evaluate your veins, the full problem is not being addressed. Often the bulging varicose veins and spider veins result from pressures in the underlying superficial or even deep veins. Without fixing this problem first, you will keep needing more vein treatments in the future. Look for someone with good experience, and who does vein ablation, either RFA or EVLT.Next, I would recommend fixing the veins first before doing the thigh lift. It will probably reduce swelling and bruising during the lift, as well as reduce wound healing issues. I have not had your specific issue before, but I do have several orthopedic surgeons refer patients to have their veins evaluated prior to doing knee replacement surgery. They find that they often have less swelling and better recovery in their patients if they get the venous issues corrected first.
