Masseter botox injection last week and it's been about 7 - 8 days now and so far no results?

Thank you for sharing your concerns about your recent Botox treatment. On average, Botox can take up to 2 weeks to take full effect in the treated muscles. For the masseters, it will likely take a few additional weeks before you notice the muscles themselves slimming down. I recommend waiting another week and then following up with your injector for evaluation. Depending on his/her assessment of the strength of the muscles, you may need to add additional units to achieve optimal results. In order to maintain your results, the procedure should be repeated every 3-4 months. Best of luck!

The massater muscles are much stronger than those in the forehead. It can take anywhere from 2-7 weeks to start seeing results. With Botox for the massater, it usually takes several treatments for results to become noticeable and to start noticing slimming of the jawline. These are usually spaced at 3 months apart.

For the masseter muscle to atrophy and for you to see results it's going to be several weeks. I also think best results are achieved after you have had a second injection about 3 to 4 months following your first injection.

Botox clinically takes two weeks to kick in.  Give it more time and then follow up with your provider.

I typically use 20-40 units of botox split between the two Masseter muscles.  It also has to actually be injected into the muscle.  Please consider reposting in that time frame and lets us know how you have done.

Thank you for your question. Soreness after injection is common. It may take up to 14 days for the full result. When you bite down, you may already notice you cannot clench your teeth as well as you could prior to Botox treatment. The masseter muscle is very strong, and you may need additional Botox units. The typical starting dose is 15-20 units per side.

It can take 1-2 weeks to see the results from a Botox treatment, so since your injection to the masseter muscles was 1 week ago, I would not be concerned that you do not see results yet.  The first effect you should notice is that when you try and clench your jaw, the masseter muscles should not tense up as much as before.  Over more time, the size of the masseter muscle can reduce as well.  I would wait another week and if you still do not notice any effect, you should contact the physician who treated you.
