I do not recommend Kybella for the lower face and jawline. It is not FDA-approved for this usage, and studies have shown risks of nerve injury when used in these areas. Kybella is indicated for the submental area only - the area under the chin in the central part of the neck. An alternative is liposuction, which can be customized for each individual patient. In some cases, the only way to improve the lower neck and jawline is through a lower cheek and neck lift procedure to tighten the muscle layer under the skin as well.Be sure to see an expert to review all of these procedures in detail. All the best,
Dear angiecox1,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office. I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable. It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Kybella was approved by the FDA for reduction of fat under the chin. Any other area treated will be off label. If there is fat in the area you are concerned Kybella can certainly work.
Yes, Kybella is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aides in the destruction of fat cells in the part of the body that it is injected into. It’s made to treat moderate to severe convexity or fullness associated with submental fat in adults. Typically there needs to be 4 treatments to see the full effect of the Kybella.Kybella is good for dissolving fat under the chin, but a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options. I recommend a combination approach with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is the best alternative for contouring the chin and can be performed with a neck lift, if you're a candidate. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
Kybella is amazing for the submental area but not FDA approved for the other areas of the face that you are asking about. Since it is not FDA approved there is no certainty about the dosage or the areas that are safe to inject and I would not recommend it at this time. I use Kybella a lot and combine it with Thermage for the best cosmetic results for skin tightening and lifting the jowls and reducing submental fat. Best, Dr. Green
Hello,Kybella is FDA approved for double chin only. It is only injected under the chin area. On the other hand liposuction is for chin, jaw line and even the face.Kybella on average required 3 sessions and takes months to see the results. liposuction is only once. a couple of days of downtime and everything is done. results are immediate. All the Best. Thank you for your question. Kybella can be an excellent choice to dissolve fat in the sub-mental area. This being said, if you have excess skin, Kybella can make the excess skin look even worse once the fat is reduced. Without your pre-procedure photos it is impossible to determine what is...
Numbness after Kybella may last for several weeks. Most patients may need 2-3 treatments typically 8 weeks apart. Swelling after the treatment may take up to 8 weeks to subside.
Good Afternoon and thank you for your question. Yes, typically Red Light Therapy is a great option to use after any injectable treatment to reduce inflammation and swelling. However it is also advised to speak with your physician directly in order to understand their post...
