The tip of my nipples seem to be “frayed”. Is this normal? My nipples have been this way my whole life. (Photos)

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  Though an in-person examination would offer you the best advice, your nipple appearance is well within the spectrum of “normal.”  Some patients can have a subtle indentation, while others can have a more noticeable cleft, while others may have tight ductal tissue leading to inversion.  If your nipple concerns are affecting your quality of life, see an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon in consultation to discuss. 

Hi and thank you for the question. We see minor irregularities in nipples every week in our practice. What you have is normal and quite common. You might consider seeing some board certified plastic surgeons near you to learn about options to change the appearance. These are typically procedures done in the office under local anesthesia.

Nipples are then termination point for your breast ducts. Some people have a slight over proliferation of tissue here. This is not abnormal, just a normal variant.
