Nipple pointing downward. What can be done about this?

Thank you for posting your question.  There are known conditions that are associated with nipples that point downward (like tuberous breasts), and in other cases this is just a normal variation of breast development.  If you're very self conscious it might be worthwhile to seek a consult with an experienced plastic surgeon.  Some potential treatments include breast lift, breast implants, breast lift with implants, or fat transfer to the breasts.

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry that your nipple position has caused you these insecurities. Unfortunately without a full series of photographs it is difficult to offer advice as this may indicate tuberous breasts that would benefit from implant placement, or sagging of your tissues which would need a lift procedure.  I would discuss your concerns with an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon. 

In-person evaluation with  board certified plastic surgeon who has good reputation in breast surgery should be your next step. It is possible to correct size and shape of nipples with minimal surgery done in local anesthesia. Good luck.

Hi and thank you for the question. What you are describing is actually not that uncommon. We use breast lift (mastopexy) techniques to bring nipples back up into a more ideal position. At the same time we can place implants to give you more volume. From your description it sounds like you may have tuberous or constricted breasts. We can often make significant aesthetic improvements with implants and a lift. I would suggest seeing 2-3 board certified plastic surgeons near you that have outstanding reputations for breast surgery. Best of luck to you.

You may have what is called constricted or tuberous breasts, especially if your breasts have always looked like this since development.  It is not common to have breast ptosis (sagginess) at 18 years old, but that is also possible.  However, it is not possible to know for sure without standardized photographs.  I would recommend an
in-person consultation to better understand your goals, allow for a thorough
physical exam, and to make more specific recommendations to achieve the
improved appearance of your breasts that you desire.
