My nipples are so strange the picture below shows them when there soft they also shrink and get erect when I’m cold
Answer: Correction of inverted nipples Based on this photo it appears that you have inverted nipples. This is possible to correct with surgery in local anesthesia; permanently erected nipples are the goal. It will, in most cases, also mean a sacrifice of milk ducts and permanently prevent breastfeeding. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with good expertise in nipple surgery/reconstruction is recommended. Good luck.

Answer: My nipples are not normal? I am sorry to hear about your concerns regarding nipple appearance. Although difficult to tell for sure, nipple inversion may be present.Inverted nipples can cause functional and body image problems for women. An inverted nipple can look flat or a slit like depression or hole at the normal nipple location. There are different degrees of inverted nipples possible. Usually correction of the inverted nipples involve division of the lactiferous (milk ducts). Risks of the procedure include potential loss of sensation, inability to breast-feed, recurrence of the inversion and the potential need for further surgery. Seek consultation with board-certified plastic surgeons who can demonstrate significant experience helping patients achieve the outcomes you will be pleased with. I hope this helps.

Answer: Nipple asymmetry Thank you for your question. It's not unusual to have some asymmetry between your nipples and areolas. Sensitivity to cold resulting in shrinking and becoming erect is also completely normal. It also appears that they are inverted. If this is your main concern, it can be corrected surgically. There are some nipple shields that can improve things nonsurgically but the results are temporary. Nipple inversion correction can be done in the office under local anesthesia and only requires a small incision at the base of the nipple. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon and have them examine you and review the risk and indications for the procedure.

Answer: What is wrong with my nipples Hi and thank you for the question. The first thing to point out is that your nipples/areolas are not abnormal. The size is quite normal. On one side your nipple seems to have a bit of projection. On the other side you appear to have some minor nipple inversion. Its hard to tell without profile photos (side view) but it appears that you may have a very small amount of herniation of breast tissue coming out through the areoals, giving them a bit of a puffy look. We see this more dramatically in cases of "tuberous breasts" (which you don't seem to have). Your nipples are relatively high on your breasts but within normal limits. The nipple inversion is easy to fix for most patients in the office setting. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour and is done under local anesthesia. If it is the puffiness of the areolas that bothers you, this too can be addressed. You can use breast lift (mastopexy) techniques to tighten the areolas and reduce their projection. I would suggest that you see a few plastic surgeons in your area that have outstanding reputations for breast surgery. Best of luck. Dr West
