The better season to get a tummy tuck is when you feel it’s the right time. Don’t make your choice on the season - make your choice on what your schedule is like and when you can expect to have some downtime/time off work so you can concentrate on the surgical experience and your recovery.Generally speaking, though, I can understand why some patients may not like having their surgery done in the summer. After all, who wants to spend their days inside, recovering, while the weather’s so great outside?
Thanks for your question. There is no "perfect" time for surgery. It really all depends on your personal situation as well as your obligations. If you are wanting to be at the beach, in the water, in the swimming pools, etc then the summer time would not be a great time for surgery because you will not be able to do those things for at least 6 weeks....longer if things aren't healing well or if you have wound problems. Also, if you have kids that you take care of during the summer months this may also make it more difficult. If you are having your surgery performed at an academic teaching facility, some might argue that summer months are bad for surgery because July 1st is when the new residents/fellows start each year and they will have a part in doing your case along with the attending. At the end of the day, it is a personal matter and there is no "one size fits all" approach to timing. Best of luck you!
The best time for a tummy tuck is when it is convenient for you. Try to plan the surgery when you are not as busy in life so you can heal in a relaxed environment without stress.
From a technical point of view, it makes no difference whatsoever when you have your surgery. The only important deciding factor should be your own personal life, including your family and work related responsibilities. Pick a time that suits you best. Nothing else matters.I hope this helps!Dr. Robert Shenker. MD FRCSC
Thank you for your question.Patients commonly ask me when is the best time for certain procedures. My response is always "when it is a good time for you as the patient." All procedures have a downtime for healing in which your activities will be restricted. So it is best to plan the surgery when you can afford to have the downtime. If the summer allows you time off of work or is a slow time that several weeks of healing is affordable, then that's the time to do it. We surgeons do all of our procedures year round so it won't make any difference to us as long as you can spend the time to heal properly.I hope this helps.
You are going to find a plastic surgeon and have him take over your care; This is why I never recommend having surgery overseas, etc. You will probably pay extraneous fees that will make eliminate any savings that you may have had.
Having had surgery just two days ago, your body is still in the very early stages of its healing process. Your body is swollen and retaining fluid, which can actually add weight rather than take it away. However, it’s important to keep in mind that a tummy tuck and liposuction aren’t the sam...
Thanks for your inquiry and happy to hear you pleased with your surgeon and your result. I think you have more pain at the edges because the nerves are probably intact, vs in the middle of the incision they get cut. These cut nerves will start growing back over the next several months. By th...
