Hello, I had a revision on 1-30-14 for capsulectomy in my right & upgrade from 450cc to 600HP smooth silicone. I'm noticing the right breast that had the capsulectomy performed is not round like my left. Is this because of the capsulectomy & it needs time for the tissue to form again and round up or is it a problem or is it my anatomy (attached pic pre op)? In the cleavage area on the bottom it seems a bit off shape? I am massaging and taking Singulair and Vit E. Thank you! Thank you!
Answer: Capsulectomy breast shape can change after capsulectomy either due to overthinking of the breast skin and subcutaneous tissue, or by the fact that it just takes time for the breast skin to stretch out and conform to the size and shape of the larger breast implants. Looking at your breast augmentation revision and capsulectomy pictures it seams that the reason for your breasts to look elongated is that your breast skin has not stretched out. give it time!

Answer: Unpredictable Result After Revision Breast Augmentation Hello,The flattened area along the medial side of your right breast is due to progressive implant dropout lateral to the flattened area. The photos also demonstrate a loss of upper pole fullness and an elongation of the nipple-inframammary fold distance on the right, all suggestive of dropout. This is not a problem of too much scarring, it is a problem of unpredictable tissue stretch. Massaging, Singulair, and Vitamin E are all supposed to diminish scar contracture or excess scarring, which would be totally unhelpful and potentially harmful to your situation. This is a common problem with larger HP implants. I would discontinue the Vit E, Singulair, and massage, and support them as much as possible while waiting the requisite 3-4 months. At that time, you will need a capsulorrhapy (suture pocket modification) at the least, and possibly an acellular dermal matrix (ADM) like Strattice as well to minimize recurrence and potential rippling. In person consultation is important, so you might want to visit a few revision breast experts to determine the best direction to take. Best of luck!

Answer: What determines shape after capsulectomy and implant exchange Assuming you have round implants, the shape of the breast depends on how the pocket is formed as well as the skin envelope. There can be some stretching of tight areas over a period of weeks to months so you may not be at your final result. The flat area on the inner lower part of the breast is often related to where the muscle attaches. the problem is that releasing it in order to accommodate larger implants can result in animation deformity. Best to wait an see at this point and keep in touch with your plastic surgeon.

Answer: Odd shape breast after capsulectomy. Is this normal? Appears as the inferior fold area is slightly lower vs the before photo it was higher. Minor asymmetry might be corrected but again a re operation. I would allow 6 months healing..

Answer: Odd shape after capsulectomy and implant exchange Thanks for sharing your photos. You are now several weeks post surgery and your breast shape should take on the shape you expect. Follow up with your plastic surgeon to see if this is expected in your case. There may be some things you can do to control the final result at this point, but an in person exam is needed to know for sure.
